The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Lagos State Command, has handed over a notorious crime suspect, Obi Levi Obieze, to the Lagos State Police Command for further investigation into a shocking case of abduction and alleged ritual killing.
The development was confirmed by the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, in a statement released on Friday via his official X (formerly Twitter) handle. Hundeyin stated, “ONGOING: @nigimmigration, Lagos State Command hands over wanted suspect, Obi Levi Obieze, to @LagosPoliceNG at the Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja.”
Obieze, who also goes by the name Levi Obu Onyeka, was arrested on May 29, 2025, by immigration operatives at the Gbaji checkpoint along the Badagry-Seme Road. He was reportedly attempting to escape the country on a motorcycle when he was apprehended.
His arrest followed credible intelligence linking him to the abduction, kidnapping, and suspected ritual killing of a 13-year-old girl in the Isiagu community of Enugu State.
Investigations revealed that Obieze, a native doctor from Umuajor village in Enugu, was part of a three-man gang that abducted the girl on May 27, 2025. The victim had been walking with her father to the farm when the suspects struck.
She was later rescued from a shrine believed to be connected to Obieze, deepening suspicions of ritualistic intent.
Obieze’s identity was confirmed through a National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) enrollment slip found in his possession at the time of arrest. Immigration authorities also disclosed that he confessed to the crime during initial questioning.
The Lagos Police Command has taken custody of the suspect and is expected to continue investigations in collaboration with their Enugu State counterparts.
The case has sparked public outrage, with many calling for swift and decisive justice to ensure that all those involved are held accountable.
