Tinubu Begs Nigeriansv-Be Patient with Me

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has made a heartfelt plea for patience from Nigerians as the country grapples with ongoing economic challenges.
Speaking at the inauguration of the completed Phase 1, Section 1 (30km by six lanes) of the 750km Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway on Saturday, Tinubu acknowledged the high expectations of the populace and the difficulties many are facing.

“I know at this stage, your expectation is still very high, and our people are going through challenges,” Tinubu said, addressing a crowd of dignitaries, local leaders, and citizens at the event.

“I beg of you, please be patient with me. We are working to turn things around, and this highway is a testament to our commitment to progress.”

The Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, a flagship infrastructure project of the Tinubu administration, is designed to connect Nigeria’s southern coastal states, boosting trade, tourism, and regional integration.

The completion of the first 30km section marks a significant milestone, with the president emphasizing its potential to drive economic growth.

However, Tinubu also cautioned developers against building on land without government approval, warning that such actions would not be compensated, signaling a push for orderly development along the corridor.

Tinubu’s appeal comes amid widespread economic hardship, with rising inflation, fuel prices, and unemployment fueling public discontent.

Recent posts on X reflect mixed sentiments, with some Nigerians appreciating the president’s candid acknowledgment of the tough times, while others remain skeptical of promises for improvement.

One user noted, “Tinubu says he recognizes that things are hard but says the economy will improve and there is hope.

This kind of message resonates better than whatever gaslighting his surrogates do.” Another post highlighted the president’s call for patience, linking it to the broader economic challenges facing the nation.

The administration has pointed to projects like the coastal highway as evidence of its commitment to long-term development, but critics argue that immediate relief measures are needed to address the cost-of-living crisis.

Tinubu’s plea for patience underscores the delicate balance his government faces in managing public expectations while pursuing ambitious infrastructure goals.

As Nigeria navigates these turbulent times, the president’s words at the highway inauguration serve as both a request for trust and a reminder of the work ahead.

Whether Nigerians will heed his call for patience remains to be seen, but for now, the focus remains on delivering tangible results to alleviate the nation’s economic woes.
