Lisha Dachor, a 19-year-old woman from Plateau state, Nigeria, has recently taken on a remarkable challenge by attempting to break the world record for the most nails painted in 72 hours.
During this marathon, she painted an impressive 4,000 nails, aiming to paint 60 fingernails per hour, according to the guidelines set by the Guinness World Record.
Dachor, who is an experienced nail technician having been practicing the profession for nearly three years, hopes that her achievement will help to shift some focus to women in northern Nigeria, as well as to her home state of Plateau. She believes that highlighting the positive aspects of Plateau can help to counter stereotypes about the state.
In an interview with BBC, Dachor revealed that her motivation to take on this challenge goes beyond personal achievement or the desire for plaudits. She wants to give people hope, especially single mothers like herself, who she says are often underestimated. She stated, “I want to give people hope, especially single mothers because many people don’t think we have anything to offer”.
Dachor also remarked that she received support from all ethnic groups while embarking on this attempt. She hopes to use her platform to challenge negative perceptions about her home state and highlight the beauty of the place.
At present, Dachor awaits the review by the Guinness World Record after completing her attempt and submitting her evidence. Her achievement is truly impressive and inspiring and is sure to inspire many people, particularly single mothers, to persevere and strive for their goals.
