The Vice President of Nigeria, Kashim Shettima, will no longer be attending the US-Africa Summit in Dallas-Texas due to a technical fault that developed in his plane. The trip cancellation was confirmed by a release issued on Monday by Media Assistant to the Vice President, Stanley Nkwocha.
Originally, Shettima was expected to represent President Bola Tinubu at the summit, which is a high-profile event taking place at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center. The summit is set to bring together political and business leaders from across Africa, the United States, and other regions to explore investment opportunities and foster economic cooperation.
Due to the Vice President's unavailability, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, will now represent President Tinubu at the summit. The event will feature high-level dialogues, networking sessions, and plenaries with a focus on exploring investment opportunities between the US and African countries.
Among the African heads of state expected to attend the summit are President Joseph Boakai of Liberia, President Lazarus Chakwera of Malawi, President Joao Lourenço of Angola, President Mokgweetsi E.K. Masisi of Botswana, President José Maria Neves of Cabo Verde, and Deputy Prime Minister Nthomeng Majara of Lesotho. The summit is expected to be a platform for discussing ways to strengthen economic ties between the US and African countries, as well as explore new opportunities for investment and business growth.
