A harrowing incident in Benue State has triggered widespread concern after a 14-year-old boy was beaten into a coma for allegedly stealing money intended for the send-off of a seminarian at St. Joseph's Parish Korinya, in the Konshisha LGA.
As of yesterday, Mr. Chiave Ekanenze BA, accompanied by his friend Oryongu Jacob Yaji, visited the boy's family and provided a grim update on the boy’s deteriorating health.
The family, who had been forced to discharge the boy from the hospital due to financial constraints, is now left in a desperate situation with no access to medical care.
His mother shared her heartbreak, pleading for assistance to save her son’s life. His condition continues to worsen daily.
This tragic event has sparked debate and reflection within the community. Many are questioning the severity of the punishment, with calls for compassion and justice.
The community has been urged to rally around the family and offer much-needed support to ensure the boy receives critical medical treatment.
Observers have also raised an important question, Should matters like these, especially those involving church-affiliated events, be handled internally or should outside intervention be sought in the name of justice and humanity? The story of this young boy is a call for action, a reminder of the importance of empathy and the value of human life above all else.
As the boy fights for his life, his family and supporters call for solidarity, urging community members to step forward with donations, medical assistance, and prayers to ensure that this boy’s life is not tragically cut short.
