In a swift response to dispel misinformation, the Nigerian Army on Sunday debunked widespread reports claiming the demise of Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja.
The army categorically dismissed the rumors as false, labeling them as baseless and a deliberate attempt to mislead the public.

The unfounded claims had circulated across social media platforms and some news outlets, sparking concerns and uncertainty. However, the Army assured Nigerians that Lt. Gen. Lagbaja is in good health, actively carrying out his duties, and committed to his role in safeguarding the nation.

A spokesperson for the Army called on the public to disregard the misleading reports, emphasizing the importance of relying on credible sources for verified information.

"These rumors are the handiwork of mischief-makers aiming to cause unnecessary panic. We urge everyone to disregard them," the spokesperson stated.

The Nigerian Army reassured citizens that it remains steadfast in its mission to maintain peace and security, urging the public to continue supporting its efforts amidst challenging times.

The origin of the death rumor remains unclear, but the military has warned against the spread of false information, citing the need for national stability.
