On Sunday, President Bola Tinubu inaugurated the construction of the 700km Lagos-Calabar coastal road project, hailing it as a "bold endeavor."
The ceremony took place on Victoria Island in Lagos State, and was attended by Minister of Works Dave Umahi, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and several governors.
Tinubu expressed his confidence in the project, stating, "We said we would do this road, and we are determined to do it. The way we are going, we have a road that will outlast us and outlive all of us here present. That is how to build a future."
He emphasized that the project symbolizes hope, unity, and prosperity, and will bring communities together, create opportunities for millions, and contribute to the nation's development.
Tinubu also highlighted the economic benefits of the coastal highway, noting that it will provide employment for thousands of people during the construction phase, and open up economic opportunities for millions. He stressed the importance of bold endeavors in advancing the country's maritime industry and maximizing the potential of the coastal states.
In conclusion, Tinubu expressed confidence in the success of the project, asserting, "Don't be afraid, we will do this road – 700 km, it will be a success for Nigeria and we will do more than this."
