Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia has given the Benue State Bureau of Entrepreneurship and Wealth Creation, led by Ms Benita Shuluwa, a comprehensive mandate that covers a wide range of activities aimed at promoting entrepreneurship and wealth creation in the state.
One of the primary goals of the Bureau is to initiate, develop, and execute wealth creation initiatives that align with the state government's vision across the entire value chain.
This involves collaborating with relevant government agencies to promote innovation and entrepreneurship programs that attract socio-economic development in the state.
The Bureau also has a responsibility to compile data and statistics related to employment and wealth creation matters in both public and private sectors within the state.
The Bureau will establish job registration centers and facilitate relevant skill acquisition and capacity building programs that advance entrepreneurship.
Furthermore, the Bureau is tasked with ensuring that eligible citizens of the state are gainfully employed within the agreed quota in public-private partnership (PPP) initiative and projects under the bureau.
This is to accelerate intergovernmental cooperation on business development within the state and foster a smooth working relationship and partnership that facilitates ease to boost business activities in the state.
To achieve this, the Bureau will develop inclusive and sustainable partnership initiatives with key stakeholders, such as Community Based Organization, the Legislative Arm of Government, Development Partners, Organised Private Sector, Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), Central Bank of Nigeria, Bank of Industry, Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC), etc to promote economy development in the state.
The Bureau's mandate also includes providing support for indigenous innovative and skilled individuals and groups to stimulate the innovation ecosystem within the state. The Bureau will collate and maintain a comprehensive archival system for all state entrepreneurship and wealth creation initiatives and other related information.
To ensure that the Bureau operates effectively and efficiently, the Bureau will coordinate relevant training programmes in order to enhance institutional capacity growth and prevent fraudulent and unfair practices within the Bureau. The Bureau will also apply administrative sanctions where necessary.
Lastly, the Bureau will report directly to the Executive Governor of Benue state to ensure transparency and proper dissemination of information. The Bureau will undertake other assignments as directed by the Governor.
