Tony Okocha, the Caretaker Committee Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, recently addressed journalists in Port Harcourt, where he expressed his dissatisfaction with Governor Siminalayi Fubara's administration.
Okocha denied congratulating Governor Fubara for his purported developmental achievements in the state, calling his administration a "sham" and suggesting that it scored poorly in terms of performance.
He also challenged Fubara to initiate a probe into the previous administration of ex-Governor Nyesom Wike.
According to Okocha, the reports circulating in the media about his congratulatory message to Governor Fubara were false, and he emphasized that he would not applaud a government that allegedly misuses public funds without proper budgetary allocation.
He accused the administration of causing companies to leave and industries to shut down due to uncertainty in the state.
Additionally, Okocha dismissed rumors of congratulating Fubara and falling out with Wike, asserting that it was inconceivable for him or the APC to endorse Fubara's governance.
He also criticized Fubara's projects, claiming that they were initiated by Wike and labeled it as "project plagiarism."
Furthermore, Okocha mentioned the plan to probe the previous administration, suggesting that Fubara should relinquish his immunity before initiating the probe.
He expressed doubts about the legitimacy of Fubara's spending since the budget was not presented before the defected members of the Rivers State House of Assembly.
In conclusion, Okocha highlighted the uncertainty regarding the political allegiance of the defected lawmakers, pointing out that only active membership in a party would prove their affiliation.
