The Nigerian Government has been granted an interim forfeiture order for properties valued at N11,140,000,000.00 linked to the former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor, Godwin Emefiele.
Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke made the order following a motion filed and argued by the counsel for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Rotimi Oyedepo (SAN), who led Bilkisu Buhari-Bala and Chineye Okezie in the proceedings.
The assets subject to forfeiture include various dollar and naira accounts, as well as properties such as residential and office buildings, industrial parks, and land in different locations.
Additionally, an order for publication in any newspaper has been sought for individuals interested in the properties and funds to appear before the court and show cause within 14 days why the final order of forfeiture should not be made in favor of the Federal Government of Nigeria.
