On Tuesday, June 4, 2024, the Police Service Commission (PSC) received the comprehensive report of the Police Recruitment Board regarding the recently concluded recruitment process.
Out of the successful candidates, 9,000 individuals were recruited for General Duty roles within the Nigeria Police Force, while 1,000 candidates were selected for the Specialists cadre, reflecting the diverse needs of the force.
To ensure a fair and just recruitment process, the Commission collaborated closely with various stakeholders, including the Nigeria Police Force, the National Assembly, and the Federal Character Commission.
This collaborative effort aimed to uphold the principles of transparency, equity, and meritocracy throughout the recruitment process.
According to Ikechukwu Ani, Head of Press and Public Relations at PSC, the successful candidates were equitably distributed across Nigeria’s 774 local government areas to ensure national representation within the police force.
Ani highlighted that the PSC had earlier inaugurated a Recruitment Board comprising representatives from the Commission, the Nigeria Police Force, the Ministry of Police Affairs, the Federal Character Commission, Police Colleges, and the Police Trust Fund.
This multi-stakeholder approach aimed to incorporate diverse perspectives and ensure a thorough and inclusive recruitment process.
