Osita Okechukwu: Labour Unions Acting Like They’re From The Moon

Former Director General of the Voice of Nigeria, Osita Okechukwu, has stressed the importance of the government prioritizing housing for Nigerian workers.

 In an interview with ARISE NEWS, Okechukwu expressed alignment with labor concerns about declining standards of living and cautioned against injecting more cash into the economy, emphasizing the potential repercussions on purchasing power parity.

He advocated for additional measures to address housing deficits, emphasizing the national housing point and citing constitutional provisions and international conventions recognizing shelter as a fundamental human right. 

Okechukwu highlighted the need for nuanced policy approaches tailored to local contexts, stressing the importance of considering demographics and regional disparitijes in economic conditions.

While acknowledging the hardships faced by workers, Okechukwu urged comprehensive government investments in sectors like agriculture and infrastructure, asserting that the government is not insensitive to the plight of the people. 

He called for a balanced approach to address the root causes of economic challenges and emphasized the importance of addressing housing needs as a fundamental aspect of improving the livelihoods of Nigerian workers.
