The protest, tagged #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria, is scheduled for August and aims to tackle the country's governance issues.
The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) has urged President Bola Tinubu to meet with the protest leaders to discuss their concerns, highlighting that millions of Nigerians are frustrated with the national economy.
Recently, security agencies have been targeting leaders and organizers of the upcoming nationwide protest, dubbed 'Day of Rage,' which is against the economic hardship facing the country.
NLC President emphasized that aggressive actions against the protesters won't solve the problems. He stated, "These are dire times. Nigerians are angry."
The NLC also stressed the importance of dialogue over conflict, reminding the government that, "You cannot smack a child and at the same time ask the child not to cry." They concluded with a warning: "A stitch in time might still save nine."
