The Petroleum Products Retail Outlet Owners Association of Nigeria (PETROAN) has announced a strategic partnership with Dangote Refinery and Petrochemicals to ensure an uninterrupted supply of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) during the festive season and beyond.
In a statement issued on Friday in Abuja by PETROAN’s National Public Relations Officer, Dr. Joseph Obele, the association revealed that the collaboration was finalized during a business meeting at the Dangote Refinery complex in Lagos earlier in the week.
The meeting, chaired by PETROAN’s National President, Dr. Billy Gillis-Harry, marked a significant milestone in the association's efforts to prevent fuel shortages across the country.
Commending the Vice President of Dangote Group and Managing Director of Dangote Refinery, Mr. Devakumar V. G. Edwin, for his proactive approach to addressing fuel availability challenges, Dr. Gillis-Harry expressed optimism that the agreement would benefit Nigerians by ensuring consistent product availability and affordability.
Although the specifics of the business terms remain undisclosed, the partnership includes key features such as a seller-buyer arrangement, monthly fuel volume reservations for PETROAN, competitive pricing, and flexible payment terms.
These measures, according to PETROAN, will significantly enhance fuel distribution across its retail outlets nationwide.
Dr. Obele further emphasized the association's commitment to maintaining a zero-scarcity policy during the yuletide period, crediting the combined efforts of PETROAN's technical committee, the recently operational Port Harcourt Refinery, and Dangote Refinery.
He assured Nigerians that the association's initiatives would avert potential supply shortages during and after the festive season.
In addition, PETROAN urged citizens to avoid panic buying and discouraged the unsafe storage of petroleum products at home, citing safety risks.
The association also called on stakeholders in the downstream sector to support the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Retail Ltd and Dangote Refinery in their efforts to sustain a steady fuel supply nationwide.
“We hereby reassure Nigerians of PETROAN’s preparedness to ensure zero-scarcity of petroleum products during the upcoming festive season and beyond.
All our retail outlets across Nigeria have been placed on green alert to deliver uninterrupted service,” the statement concluded.
The partnership signals a proactive approach to addressing perennial fuel supply challenges, fostering hope for a seamless festive season free from fuel scarcity concerns.
