Tinubu Approves Salary Increase and Arrears Payment for Nigerian Armed Forces

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a salary increment for members of Nigeria’s armed forces, alongside the payment of three months’ salary arrears.

This announcement was made on Friday by the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, through a statement by the ministry’s spokesperson, Henshaw Ogubike.

The approval also includes the release of funds to settle outstanding pensions and entitlements for retired military personnel.

Matawalle confirmed that military personnel have started receiving alerts for the salary increment, marking a significant morale boost for troops.

He praised Tinubu's dedication to the welfare of both serving and retired military members, stating that addressing pension arrears remains a top priority for the administration.

“Despite initial setbacks, the President is fully committed to supporting our armed forces as they tackle security challenges,” the minister added.

The gesture reflects the government’s efforts to strengthen the military and improve their conditions amid ongoing efforts to address national security concerns.
