Police Service Commission Dismisses 18 Senior Officers, Demotes 19 for Misconduct

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has dismissed 18 senior police officers and demoted 19 others following investigations into various acts of misconduct.

This decision was part of resolutions made during a plenary meeting held in Abuja to address 109 outstanding disciplinary cases, as well as 23 appeals, petitions, and court rulings.

Ikechukwu Ani, Head of Press and Public Relations at the PSC, confirmed the actions in a statement issued on Friday.

He revealed that the dismissals affected officers across different ranks, including 10 Assistant Superintendents, six Deputy Superintendents, two Chief Superintendents, and one Superintendent of Police.

The Commission also approved rank reductions for 19 senior officers, among them an Assistant Commissioner of Police, a Chief Superintendent, and several Deputy and Assistant Superintendents.

“The Commission carefully reviewed all cases before arriving at these decisions to ensure accountability and uphold the integrity of the police force,” Ani stated.

The PSC emphasized its commitment to maintaining discipline within the police hierarchy, sending a strong message about its zero tolerance for misconduct among law enforcement personnel.
