The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has announced a major operational victory against Boko Haram terrorists following a coordinated airstrike that eliminated scores of insurgents and destroyed a major stronghold in Borno State.
The air raid, conducted in the early hours of Friday, was part of ongoing counterterrorism efforts under Operation Hadin Kai, targeting fleeing Boko Haram fighters in Bita, a notorious insurgent enclave in Nigeria’s North-East region.
In an official statement released on Friday, the Director of Public Relations and Information at NAF Headquarters, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, described the operation as a substantial milestone in degrading the operational capability of terrorist elements that have long threatened national security in the region.
“The Nigerian Air Force through the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai has recorded a major operational success against Boko Haram terrorists,” the statement read.
“In the early hours of today, NAF combat aircraft carried out precision airstrikes on fleeing terrorists in Bita, Borno State, neutralising scores of insurgents in what has been described as one of the most decisive blows against the group in recent times.”
Ejodame noted that the highly coordinated air mission, executed under the cover of darkness, was designed to catch the terrorists off-guard and inflict maximum damage on their infrastructure and personnel. He added that ground troops have since launched clearance and exploitation operations to consolidate the gains made by the air component.
“The operation represents a major leap in the ongoing efforts to dismantle the operational capabilities of terrorist elements undermining national security in the North-East,” he said.
Reaffirming the military’s dedication, Ejodame emphasized that the NAF remains resolute in its commitment to defending the nation’s territorial integrity and protecting all law-abiding citizens.
He assured Nigerians that all necessary measures are being taken to ensure that terrorist groups find no sanctuary anywhere within the country.
This latest offensive adds to a series of intensified military actions aimed at ending insurgency and restoring peace and stability to the region.
