The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) has raised concerns about the presence of soldiers at the venue of its meeting with the federal government.
According to a post on its official Facebook page, soldiers are currently at the premises of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).
The post further stated that “any attempt to intimidate or blackmail labour leaders at the negotiation table will be resisted, and the strike action will be prolonged.” The NLC and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) are on strike to protest the proposed minimum wage of N60,000, while the NLC is demanding N494,000.
Major sectors of the country have been shut down due to the strike action.
The government has yet to comment on this development at the time of this report.
