Human rights activist and Convener of the #RevolutionNow movement, Omoyele Sowore, has reported the arrest of Aliyu Sanusi by the Department of State Services (DSS) in Sokoto State.
Sowore disclosed the information on his X platform (formerly Twitter), condemning the arrest as an act by the "lawless" DSS.
Sanusi was detained for allegedly printing and distributing materials for the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protest.
The arrest took place on Monday evening at the Sama Road area in Sokoto, the state capital.
Sowore, who was the African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate in the 2019 and 2023 general elections, has called for Sanusi’s immediate release.
"The lawless @OfficialDSSNG has arrested Aliyu Sanusi for printing and distributing #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria material in Sokoto state.
He was arrested yesterday evening from the Sama Road Area in Sokoto.
The DSS is directed to release Aliyu Sanusi immediately," Sowore posted.
The incident has sparked outrage among activists and supporters of the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria movement, who view the arrest as a suppression of free speech and peaceful protest.
