President Bola Tinubu has called on Nigerians to cancel the '#EndBadGovernance' protests planned for next month.
Information Minister Mohammed Idris relayed the President’s request, asking organizers to await the government's response to their complaints.
Police measures are in place to prevent violence and damage to national infrastructure.
Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, warned that any hoodlums posing as protesters will be apprehended.
"We have plans to ensure no individual or group can incite terror and anarchy.
Hoodlums taking laws into their own hands under the guise of protests will face serious consequences," Egbetokun stated.
